Unfortunately though, the beauty industry still remains largely unregulated. Can you believe that cosmetics, which include skin-care products, don’t need any approval from the Food and Drug Administration before hitting the shops. This is exactly why I chose to only use certified organic and natural ingredients in the BAO formulations, as so many brands don’t.
There are a few ingredients that tend to spark more skin sensitivity than others. These usually include artificial fragrances, parabens, phthalates, sulphates, mineral oil and formaldehyde — some of which are added as preservatives. So I make sure that BAO Skincare does not contain them. Some sensitive skins can even be irritated by essential oils, but the oils I have chosen suit each product perfectly and are only used in small percentages in the face products.

Cocoa Butter (Organic)
Cocoa butter is especially good for dry skin, it nourishes, softens soothes and protects. It contains stearic, palmitic and oleic acids. It is obtained from the roasted seeds of the cocoa tree, these are the same seeds that give us cocoa and chocolate and it literally smells like chocolate, try the Skin Saviour Balm.

Coconut Butter (Organic)
Coconut butter is solid at room temperature but melts to an oil in the warmth of your hands. It's moisturises and protects your skin. It promotes skin elasticity and fights free radical damage to help maintain a glowing complexion. It's beneficial for dry, flaky skin, and conditions such as eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis.

Decyl Glucoside
Decyl Glucoside is 100% natural as it's derived from coconuts and is biodegradable. It's a mild and gentle surfactant and because it doesn't dry the skin it's ideal for the formulation of personal hygiene and toiletry products. It helps a wash foam, but is always gentle and mild, especially suited for dry and sensitive skins.

Paypaya Seed
A plant oil for stabilising oily skin and working as an exfoliant on dry areas. Papaya also creates a natural ‘lift’ to your skin. It contains Vitamin A that benefits skin repair through increasing the rate of new cell formation. Vitamin C is also an anti-oxidant promotes smoother, softer skin.

Pomegranate Seed (Organic)
Pomegranate Oil is high in antioxidants. It protects against the aging effects of overexposure to the sun, inhibits free radical damage, supports skin cell regeneration and promotes healing. Pomegranate extract works well in stimulating skin's collagen production and rebuilding its outer layers.

Prickley Pear Seed (Organic)
Prickly pear is high in essential fatty acids, omega-6 and -9, and the natural antioxidant vitamin E. It’s rich in amino acids, which stimulate collagen production to promote faster cell turnover. It also contains vitamin K, which brightens under-eye dark circles and also promotes your skin’s elasticity.
