One thing all skin experts agree on, is that SPF is a non-negotiable part of your daily routine!

Everyone should be wearing SPF every day

Prevention is always better than cure — especially when it comes to skin health.
You might not see the effects of skipping SPF in your 20s or even 30s, but trust me, your skin keeps the score.

Over the years, I’ve had countless skin consultations with customers wanting to reduce wrinkles — but many of them aren’t wearing SPF every day! The truth is, if you don’t protect your skin, those fine lines and wrinkles will catch up with you.

No matter your skin tone, skin type or age — you need a broad-spectrum SPF of at least factor 30, daily. Yep, even on cloudy days, even in winter. UV rays can still reach your skin through clouds and windows, and they don’t take a break.

“Broad-spectrum” means your SPF protects against:

  • UVB rays, which cause sunburn
  • UVA rays, which are responsible for premature ageing

Apply it generously — about half a teaspoon for your face and neck — and reapply throughout the day, especially after sweating or swimming.

Why is daily SPF so important?

Here are three major reasons:

1. It Reduces the Risk of Skin Cancer

UV radiation is the leading cause of skin cancer. When UV rays penetrate your skin, they can damage the DNA in your cells. This damage can build over time and increase your risk of developing skin cancer — even on days when you're not visibly burning.

You may be at higher risk if:

  • You have lots of moles
  • You burn easily or have a fair complexion
  • You have red or blonde hair
  • You’ve experienced severe sunburn in the past
  • You use tanning beds or sun lamps

SPF = protection. And protection is prevention.

2. It Keeps Your Skin Looking Bright and Fresh

SPF helps prevent pigmentation, sun spots and dark patches, keeping your complexion even and radiant.

Here’s why: when exposed to UV rays, our skin produces more melanin — the pigment that gives us our skin tone. Sometimes, those pigment-producing cells go into overdrive, leaving you with uneven skin tone or stubborn sun spots.

Using SPF helps prevent this process. And if you’re already dealing with pigmentation, regular gentle exfoliation (like with our Radiance Face Scrub) and adding vitamin C to your skincare routine can help to fade and brighten over time.

3. It Prevents Premature Ageing

If you want to keep your skin plump, smooth and youthful, SPF is your best friend.

80–90% of premature ageing is caused by sun exposure.
When we’re young, our skin has plenty of collagen and elastin — the proteins that give it bounce and firmness. But sun damage breaks these down faster than natural ageing does.

Imagine an ice cream on a sunny day — the more direct sun, the faster it melts.
Your collagen and elastin do the same.

Without them, your skin begins to sag, fine lines deepen, and wrinkles appear earlier. Want to hold off on the fillers? Start with SPF.
